Worship Ministries

The centerpiece of Lake Shore’s ministry is the dynamic worship experience. We express our love and gratitude to God in numerous settings and a variety of styles, making use of the gifts and talents of many people. The choir, praise band, hand bell choirs, youth praise band, children’s choir, and musical specials help us connect with God. The worship ministry team enhances the worship experience of the congregation by preparing the sanctuary for special occasions and holidays, making preparations for communion services, providing sound and computer technicians, greeting worshipers as they arrive; and enriching the worship services with music, drama, and other artistic expressions. The following groups meet regularly to prepare for worship:

· Praise Band,

· Youth Praise Band,

· Hand bell Choir, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

· Drama Team, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

· Choir, Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

 

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach team members dedicate themselves to bring the message of God’s love and compassion to the members of our community by:

· Coordinating a bereavement ministry that delivers meals to grieving families

· Delivering a welcome packet to first time visitors

· Greeting people arriving for services and the Wednesday Dinner

 

Education

The Education team offers educational experiences that encourage participants as they learn more about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and living lives that demonstrate the love and grace of God. There is a place for you in one of these classes.

Nurture and Care

Lake Shore is a supportive community of love and care. The Nurture and Care team encourages members of the congregation to be sensitive to and meet the physical, social, and spiritual needs of others including the following ministry areas:

· Christ Care Groups: Specialized fellowship and ministry groups that offer opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, friendship, support, prayer, and service.

· Stephen Ministry: One to one support for persons who have had a traumatic loss and need loving care and encouragement.

· Weekly Healing and Communion Service: A time set apart to pray for healing and restoration in the lives of people going through personal challenges.

· United Methodist Women: Groups of women that provide opportunities for friendship and service focusing on support for missions. Meeting dates are as follows:

v First Monday, 7:00 p.m., Bridge Builders

v First Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., Willing Hands

v First Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., Messengers

v Fourth Monday, 6:30 p.m., United Methodist Women Executive Meeting

· United Methodist Men: Men uniting for friendship and service. Meeting dates are as follows:

v Second Saturday, 8:30 a.m., Norton Hall, General meeting

v Mondays, 8:00 a.m., Charlie Downing’s Barn, Personal Energy Transportation (PET) Project

· Senior Ministries: Opportunities for seniors to gather for friendship, educational activities, trips, and service to other seniors.

v First Thursday, 10:45 Young at Heart (September through May)

v Thursdays (except first Thursday), 10:00 Happy Wanderers

Missions

Lake Shore is a church living out God’s calling to be fully engaged in missions and ministry, to relieve suffering, to extend the love of God, and to bring the saving gospel of Jesus Christ to those who do not know him.
