Circles of Care with Christ at the Center |
What are ChristCare groups? |
ChristCare groups are five to ten people who typically meet twice a month for 90 minutes. The group is lead by a trained leader who receives ongoing support in the ministry. The group chooses its own topics of study and the nature of its service and outreach projects. Groups may meet in homes or at the church. Group members may share similar situations or common experiences such as all women or all men groups, youth, bereavement, shared mission or shared project. |

Four Activities of ChristCare Groups |
ChristCare groups seek to help Christians grow as devoted and mature followers of Jesus, to seek God, to care for one another and to serve God by serving others through the following activities: |
Community Building and Care |
One of the main reasons people join ChristCare groups is to experience intimacy and care. We live in a society in which it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to have relationships with others. ChristCare groups can fill that need. As members learn to know and trust each other, they care for each other more. Paul instructs us to “Bear on another’s burdens and in this way—fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2) |

Biblical Equipping
ChristCare groups encounter the scriptures and study the Bible regularly through Biblical Equipping, which is more than Bible study. It moves beyond exploring what the Bible says and means to help group members connect what the Bible says to their daily lives and encouraging them to live according to what they learn. Biblical equipping is a way of making God’s word alive and active in our world. The group’s encounters with the Word of God equip the members to live as Jesus’ disciples and to use their Spirit-given gifts in his service. |

Prayer and Worship |
Christcare group meetings include prayer and worship, both formal and informal depending on the preferences of the group. Worship may include songs, prayers, litanies, Psalms, devotional music or short meditations and devotions. |

Missional Service |
ChristCare groups do not exist solely for themselves. They exist to reach out in the name of Jesus in service to church and community. Groups find creative and faithful ways to extend God’s love to those outside the group. Missional service projects are as varied and unique as the groups who perform them. |
